SHE'S ALASKA: STORIES BEHIND THE RECORDINGS
"Gravity" (UNRELEASED but available with signing up to our Mailing List/Be Alaskan) This one was a song we wrote trying to capture that feeling of an instant connection to somebody. Like a lightning strike right to your heart. It also has the feel and mood of a Train song. We both co-wrote the song and brought it to our producer Andrew Pacheco to record it.
We both sang on the track. I (Cooper) played electric guitar and acoustic guitar. Andrew Pacheco played bass, piano, strings, and drums.
"Nicotine" (UNRELEASED but available with signing up to our Mailing List/Be Alaskan) Eleanor brought this song to the table. She had written it months before and had it locked away in her phone until she showed it to me. I really liked it because it was this super-descriptive take on the bad-boy falls for good-girl that was super attractive in its mood and just the sound of the lyrics. I went on to suggest also involving the bad-boy's perspective because I felt like it hadn't really been a common idea. We went on to record it with Andrew Pacheco who helped us get this pure, almost innocent feel to the song, as well as this really cool intro that involved me strumming the guitar and him playing it backwards on the recording! He also played a huge part in creating the instrumental/solo part after the 2nd Chorus by suggesting we do a cool vocal harmony thing that sounds like a choir of just mine and Eleanor's voices while I had the idea of having a dueling piano/classical guitar solo over that.
We both sang on the track. I played electric guitar and acoustic guitar. Andrew Pacheco played bass, piano, organ, and drums.
